Once you enroll, we send you an email of acceptance, a receipt for your tuition, and immediately mail you a copy of the Canine CPR and Emergency First Aid, Fundamental of First Aid, Service/Therapy Dog first aid, and the children's manual to familiarize yourself with, as well as your trainer T-shirt, hat and medium sized stuffed demo dog
We also send you a link to the CHC Trainers portal, where you will set up your own unique login and password. Here you will find the PowerPoint course presentation, video demonstrations of all the scenarios your future students will participate in, videos of fellow instructors teaching, course outlines, and all study material, as well as a jpegs of the company logo for you to use, marketing photos, marketing videos, waiver forms, hosting agreements, social media calendars, and more. Learning to become a teacher in canine first aid and CPR has never been easier, and with the most comprehensive program by far in all of Canada, you can feel confident in what you are teaching. We are also approved for CEU credits with the IAABC and a proud member of the Institute of Credentialing Excellence.
You will also find the area where you can not only post your future courses, but order all your training manuals/certificates for your students.
We also invite all accepted trainers to join our closed Facebook group, CHC Trainers. Here you can collaborate and refer with other trainers all over North America.
Also in the trainers portal is the link to the exam. Once you have been through all the study materials, you can take the final exam. You will need a 75% to pass. If you fail, you must wait one week to re-take the exam.
When you pass your exam, and provide your policies and procedures documentation, we list you on our website as a licensed Canine First Aid Trainer, .
The course can be completed in about 25 hours. We also encourage Trainers to run a practice course before they teach their first public one. We do offer videos of an instructor presenting the class for you to familiarize yourself further, and if you want to audit a live class with a senior instructor we will arrange that at no additional fee.
You have a full year to complete your training. We know life can get in the way and sometimes you need to put things on the back burner in the name of health and family. We get it. But - we do encourage you to complete your training as quickly as possible so you can get out earning an income teaching.. and helping dog owners be better prepared!
Of course! We allow flexibility with our Trainers. You can teach using your dog(s), the demo dogs, or any combination thereof. We trust our Trainers as professionals to put on the best class possible, based on the specific needs of the group they will be working with. All live dogs being used in classes must be vaccinated or have a current negative titer test. A copy must be provided to head office before teaching.
We recognize that are many good pet first aid courses out there. We are not a human first aid company with a canine component. We are a canine first aid company. Animals are our sole focus. Our course is Veterinarian designed and approved, and our course is by far the most comprehensive one out there, and we provide our students with the largest manual of any program!
Our courses have been reviewed and approved by provincial veterinary regulatory boards, and are eligible for CEU credits with the IAABC .
PLUS we offer specific programs for Service and Therapy Dog personnel, Working Tactical K9 officers, Advanced Remote k9 programs, a new course coming this summer for breeding-pregnancy-whelping, and of course programs for kiddos. We also have two more programs in planning phases - we are constantly growing to offer our clients and instructors everything they need.

Yes, you can claim your training as a business expense on your income tax return. Our Trainers earn a profit of roughly $100 per student taught, so 20 students = $2000. You earn your tuition back very quickly.
Tuition is $1499.00. and includes your manuals for the primary Canine CPR &Emergency First Aid , First Aid Fundamentals, Service/Therapy Dog edition, and the I Can Help - Dog Safety and First aid for kids. It includes your trainer t-shirt and cap, all learning materials, a medium sized stuffed demo dog, access to the trainer portal, weekly marketing support, annual done-for-you social media calendars, membership into our closed Facebook group, ongoing zoom seminar opportunities and more.
The course is set at $159 to the public - trainers collect this registration fee directly from their students. Trainers then purchase their course manuals & certificates from Head Office at a cost of $50 per package. Teaching materials are the responsibility of the trainer/instructor - this is roughly $5-$9 per student. This leaves a profit to the trainer/instructor of $95-$100 per student. Head office occasionally offers sales on course manuals.
Trainers are expected to carry valid teaching insurance. Most use pro-fur and pay an average of $500 per year for insurance - the equivalent of 5 students.
Trainers pay an annual licensing fee of $99 beginning the year AFTER certification. (It is included in the tuition for the first year). This is the only other expense you have. You do not send a portion of your course fees to Head Office. Other than purchasing your course manuals, the remainder of the profit is 100% your income.
We have an exceptional group of people at Head Office and on the Advisory Board who are always available to help. We run "Marketing Monday's" each week on our closed Facebook group, set up social media calendars monthly, and work collaboratively with everyone on the team. It really is an incredible group of supportive members, and with nearly 8 million dog owners in Canada and 75 million in the United States, we have a massive market to teach.
Once you submit your application, you are mailed your manual and given full access to the Trainer Portal with all the internal teaching information.
You can withdraw anytime, but refunds will only be issued within 7 days of initial enrolment, and then only if you have not yet been issued your materials and given portal access to our intellectual property and materials.
We can't wait to learn all about you and your canine experience!
