Frequently Asked Questions

What is involved with the online training?

Once you enroll, we send you an email of acceptance, a receipt for your tuition, and immediately mail you a copy of both the adult and the children's manual to familiarize yourself with.

We also send you a link to the CHC Trainers portal, where you will set up your own unique login and password.  Here you will find the PowerPoint course presentation, video demonstrations of all the scenarios your future students will participate in, course outlines, and all study material,  as well as a jpegs of the company logo for you to use, marketing photos, marketing videos, waiver forms, hosting agreements and more.  Learning to become a dog training expert in canine first aid and cpr certification has never been easier!

You will also find the area where you can not only post your future courses, but order all your training manuals/certificates for your students.

We also invite all accepted trainers to join our closed Facebook group, CHC Trainers.  Here you can collaborate and refer with other trainers all over North America.

Also in the trainers portal is the link to the exam.  Once you have been through all the study materials, you can take the final exam.  You will need a 75% to pass.  If you fail, you must wait one week to re-take the exam.

When you pass your exam, we sent you your trainer T-shirt, medium sized demo dog and list you on our website as a licensed Canine First Aid Trainer.

How long does it generally take?

The course can be completed in about 20 hours.  We also encourage Trainers to run a practice course before they teach their first public one.

How long do I have to complete my training?

We don't put a time limit on your training.  We know life can get in the way and sometimes you need to put things on the back burner in the name of health and family.  We get it.

Can I use my own dog?

Of course!  We allow flexibility with our Trainers.  You can teach using your dog(s), the demo dogs, the student dogs (temperament approved- of course) or any combination thereof.  We trust our Trainers as professionals to put on the best class possible, based on the specific needs of the group they will be working with.

What makes Canine Health Canada better?

We recognize that are many good pet first aid courses out there.  We are not a human first aid company with a canine component.  We are a canine first aid company.  Animals are our sole focus.  Our course is Veterinarian designed and approved, and our course is by far the most comprehensive one out there!  Want to know what's covered?  Check this out!

Is the training tax deductible and how long does it take to recoup my tuition?

Yes, you can claim your training as a business expense on your income tax return.  Our Trainers earn a profit of roughly $95 per student taught, so 20 students = $1900.  You earn your tuition back very quickly.

What is the cost break-down - how do I earn?

The course is set at $149 to the public - trainers collect this registration fee directly from their students.  Trainers then purchase their course manuals & certificates from Head Office at a cost of $49 per package.  Teaching materials are the responsibility of the trainer/instructor - this is roughly $2-$5 per student.  This leaves a profit to the trainer/instructor of $95.

Are there any other expenses I need to know about?

Trainers pay an annual licensing fee of $99 beginning the year AFTER certification.  (It is included in the tuition for the first year).  This is the only other expense you have.  You do not send a portion of your course fees to Head Office.  Other than purchasing your course manuals, the remainder of the profit is 100% your income.

What kind of after-support do Trainers have?

We have an exceptional group of people at Head Office and on the Advisory Board who are always available to help.  We run "Marketing Monday's" each week on our closed Facebook group, set up social media calendars monthly, and work collaboratively with everyone on the team.  It really is an incredible group of supportive members, and with nearly 8 million dog owners in Canada and 75 million in the United States, we have a massive market to teach.

What about lockdowns/restrictions?

When Covid hit we immediately introduced an online version of our course for our trainers to teach.  They were still able to earn an income teaching virtually.  We still have that option available to you and the public.  Classes are back to in-person again, but that option still exists.

What if I want to withdraw?

Once you submit your application, you are mailed your manual and given full access to the Trainer Portal with all the internal teaching information.

You can withdraw anytime, but refunds will only be issued if you have not yet been issued your manual and portal access.
